Service Units: LSBB and OpenEdition Center

A Unité mixte de service (UMS) is an administrative entity created by the signature of a contract of association between a higher education institution (usually a university) and a research organisation (usually the CNRS).
A Service and Research Unit (SRU) can accommodate both administrative and technical staff of organisations and research staff.

Avignon University has two service units:

- The Low Noise Underground Laboratory of Rustrel (LSBBUMS 3538), under the joint supervision of Avignon University and the CNRS

- The OpenEdition Centre, (USR 2004) is attached to the CNRS, the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), Aix-Marseille University (AMU) and Avignon University.

The purpose of these "operational service structures is, on the one hand, to make material resources available to operational research structures and, on the other hand, to carry out research support activities"..
