[Popularisation of science] call for applications "Telling and meeting science" competition, by the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF)

The AUF Western Europe is launching the third edition of its competition "Conter et rencontrer les sciences" (Telling and meeting science) aimed at rewarding the best scientific popularisation contents in French produced by young researchers.

The research conducted by young researchers within its network is characterised by its great dynamism. The call aims to highlight the many initiatives that question and contribute to the rapprochement between science, culture and society. These initiatives testify to the great dynamism of young researchers who produce innovative and accessible scientific communication. By this competition, the AUF intends to encourage other means of communication for the diffusion of knowledge to the general public.  

Who can participate in this competition?

This competition is addressed to any doctoral student or young researcher who has submitted and/or defended his or her thesis for less than 5 years in a higher education and research institution member of the AUF - Western Europe (202 institutions present in 12 countries: see full list of members). 

How to enter the competition?

A single popular science content, less than 24 months oldThe format of the production must correspond to one of the 4 categories defined below. The format of the production must correspond to one of the 4 categories defined below:  

  • Written production: blog articles, newspaper, book, poem...  
  • Graphic production: comic strip, popularised poster, computer graphics, awareness-raising game (boards, cards, etc.)  
  • Audio production: podcast, song...  
  • Video production: popularisation video, animation video, film, video game... 

In addition, special attention will be given to applications related to : 

  • One of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals adopted in 2015 by the United Nations.  
  • One of the themes mentioned below:  
  • Ecological transition, climate and energy, mobility, resources and environment 
  • Technology, digital, space, security, robotics, artificial intelligence 
  • Art(s) and culture(s), inclusive society(ies), social sciences and humanities 
  • Societal well-being and life sciences

Prices and valuation 

For each of the four categories mentioned above, the winner will be awarded a single prize of €1,000. The winner will also benefit from a promotion of the winning content on the AUF Western Europe website and social networks.
