The South Region's "Young Doctoral Jobs" scheme

The South Region is renewing its support for future doctoral students in the region by renewing its "Jobs for Young Doctoral Students" funding scheme for 2024.

Deadline for internal submissions to Avignon University: 5 February
Deadline for submission to the Region: 12 March

Reminder of the principle of financing

  • Co-financing by the Region / Socio-economic partner of the doctoral student's HR costs (the application may be drawn up with two partners)
  • Invoicing of the laboratory's operating costs is not compulsory and, if it is set up, is at the full cost of the partner without any assistance from the Region. The partner may potentially benefit from funding such as the CIR or CICO tax credit.)
  • No need for the institution or laboratory to provide funding
  • The partner must have its head office or an establishment in the region
  • The region's contribution depends on the size of the partner:

Clarification on the dossier to be submitted to the CR: it is not necessary for the partner to sign the form before submission to the Research Committee. Signature will be required only after validation by the RC and before submission to the Region.

Additional points to bear in mind

  • The region favours projects linked to thecancer plan and climate planHoweverall themes are eligible
  • Certification by a competitiveness cluster is not compulsory, but recommended.
  • The Region's assessors are not scientists. The description of the research project will therefore have to be made more accessible to the general public and respond to the non-scientific criteria expressed by the Region.
  • The Region's framework text contains almost a page devoted to thescientific cultureto which the doctoral student may contribute during his/her thesis (even if the topic is not related to the thesis project). Aurélia Barrière can help you structure a proposal to include in your application. This will have a significant impact on your application, as the Region will see it as a way of communicating about the projects it funds. Similarly, the CR will be paying close attention, as our institution is becoming increasingly involved in the 'science and society' theme.
  • The DARI Valorisation and Technology Transfer Unit (led by Anne-Charlotte Monville) will take over once your application has been accepted by the Region (in particular to negotiate a possible operating budget with your economic partner and to discuss the terms of ownership and exploitation of the results).
