Documentary resources for teachers/researchers
Since the beginning of the period during which establishments have been closed due to the pandemic, some publishers have opened up access to their online content or facilitated access to it.
This temporary opening opens up new possibilities for accessing scientific content. However, it may also be part of commercial strategies pursued by software suite publishers and major broadcasters of audiovisual content, who see this period of confinement as an opportunity to consolidate their sometimes hegemonic positions.
This temporary opening must not contribute to putting private publishers in a position of control over scientific publication, or weaken the Open Science project to which the institution is committed, along with a large part of the French university community.
The Couperin consortium, the Association des Directeurs de Bibliothèques Universitaires (www.adbu.fr) and the Association des responsables IST des organismes de recherches (www.eprist.fr) have launched an appeal to academic publishers "Open up access to scientific publications!" Link to the PDF version of the call
Not all initiatives are of the same nature: some publishers are temporarily opening up their entire catalogue, others are opening up information relating to Covid-19 (e.g. American Chemical Society and IOP Publishing), while others are extending or relaxing the conditions of access to their collections. New offers are published every day and can be consulted on a dedicated page on the Couperin website.
Finally, the Bibliothèque Interuniversitaire de la Sorbonne BIS, the University Library of Languages and Civilisations BULACThe Cujas Library provides access to a wide range of resources (resources produced by the Cujas BIU, free websites, exceptional access provided by publishers).
