From 17 to 27 November 2025 - ART FOR WASTE AWARENESS: Residency on agricultural waste, with artists Cornélia Eichhorn and Fanny Lavergne, as part of the European OTRart project
Avignon Université is a partner in the European OTRart programme, which aims to promote sustainable practices, particularly on the issue of waste, through an artistic and creative approach.
The OTRart project is taking place in six Mediterranean countries (France, Greece, Italy, Spain, Croatia and Malta). Each partner is hosting a foreign artist in residence, who will work with a more local artist on a joint creative project on the theme of waste recycling.
It's in this context that two artists will be based in Avignon for ten days at the Villa Créative. The theme chosen for the residency is agricultural waste, an extremely important subject in this fruit and vegetable-growing region of the Vaucluse. To fuel their work, the artists will have a packed programme, with field visits, exchanges at Avignon University, meetings with farmers and, of course, time to create together... A real challenge, given that they've never worked together before! And they're ready to take up the challenge: to come up with a show that conveys a message about raising awareness, and certainly also about promoting initiatives.

A study day at Avignon University, on art to raise awareness of waste
As part of the residency programme, this study day aims to change the way we look at everyday waste.
Garbage, leftovers, scraps and rubbish can be transformed, recycled, reused and revitalised to serve a different purpose. Art can be a formidable vehicle for raising awareness and transforming our practices. This day brings together different types of players involved in this issue: researchers, elected representatives, artists and cultural players.

Thursday 27 November
From 3pm to 7pm
Leaving the residence
Organised in collaboration with students on the Culture & Communication Masters course at the University of Avignon, this day will be aimed at a wide audience, to discuss the issue of waste awareness.
At the Villa Créative, in the presence of the artists, with: a presentation of the creative work, tastings of local products and activities by associations committed to ecology.
