Alice Munro is a Canadian author born in 1931. She won the Nobel Prize for Literature on 10 October 2013, becoming the thirteenth woman to receive the award.

Jane Austen was an English novelist of the early 19th century. Most of her novels deal with women's views on love and, above all, their relationship to marriage, which for women of the time represented a means of achieving social status and economic security.

Anna Akhmatova is one of the greatest Russian poets of the 20th century. She mainly dealt with subjects such as the status of creative women, life under the Stalinist regime and nostalgia, but she also wrote some very pretty pieces about love, of which here are two.
