Avignon University welcomes many foreign students every year, through international exchange agreements, French courses offered by the Language Service (SDL), or on an individual basis. In addition, most of Avignon University's programmes offer their students the opportunity to study abroad as part of exchange programmes or to undertake internships abroad (financial aid is managed by the International Relations Department – SRI). Finally, its research partnerships enable it to regularly welcome foreign researchers, who are valuable collaborators in its research laboratories.
The institution has voted on a master plan for internationalisation:
Avignon University is a member of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), the CampusFrance network, the European Association for International Education (EAIE), the Hanseatic League of Universities (HLU) and the Network of Universities of the European Capitals of Culture (UNeECC).
It holds the ERASMUS University Charter 2021-2027, issued by the European Commission.

Avignon University has once again been awarded the "good practice" label for its European Erasmus + mobility project
The Erasmus + Agency recently carried out a qualitative evaluation of the European mobility project of Avignon University.
The results showed that the institution's European mobility project is of high quality in its implementation and results. As such, Avignon University has been awarded the "good practice" label.
The relevance of the project, the general quality of its implementation, its financial management, its impacts and the dissemination of its results were particularly analysed, on the basis of criteria defined by the European Commission.
This recognition confirms the commitment and professionalism of Avignon University in its management and support of the European mobility of its students.
