5 February 2026, Laure Antunes, a doctoral student in Information and Communication Sciences (Centre Norbert Elias), will present a Midiscience on the theme :
«Exhibiting Egyptian mummies in museums: a museographic, legal and ethical dilemma».
The exhibition of human remains is currently the subject of museographic and legal controversy. This doctoral thesis explores a fundamental question in museum ethics: under what conditions can museums exhibit human remains, and more specifically Egyptian mummies, as heritage objects while respecting their dignity?
Laure Antunes is a doctoral student in Information and Communication Sciences (Centre Norbert Elias). She was awarded a doctoral contract by the Agorantic Research Federation in 2024. Her research focuses on the exhibition of Egyptian mummies in museums and examines the tensions between museological, legal and ethical issues.
