Avignon Université places culture at the heart of its commitments, with programmes that are open to the region. An annual meeting with artists, researchers and cultural figures will be held in the spring. It will also be an opportunity to present the highlights of the 2024-2025 cultural season. Claire Chazal, Lucie Marinier and Ernest Pignon-Ernest will discuss the theme of public space as a place to create and build a shared culture. The meeting will be chaired by Bertrand Dicale, Managing Director of News Tank Culture.
In line with its strategic orientations and its fundamental missions of education, research and the promotion of culture, Avignon University has made culture a strategic focus of its institutional policy, in dialogue with local players.
Culture at university is much more than mere personal enrichment; it is the glue that binds individuals together in a shared quest for knowledge, progress and an understanding of society. At a time of great change in the field of culture, the arts and the sciences, the university is a place of exchange, diversity and creation, where students forge their intellectual and social identity.
Avignon Université has created its own cultural diary, giving it a genuine tool for promoting and raising the profile of its activities. It is being developed in collaboration with students, university staff and local stakeholders. It is being developed in line with the university's ethical values, particularly in terms of environmental, social and digital transitions. The cultural agenda will be presented each year at the cultural meetings entitled The University as a creative hub.

Considered one of France's greatest artists and a precursor of Street Art, his aim is to turn the street into a work of art, placing culture at the heart of the public space in a poetic and committed way. Internationally renowned for his portraits of famous people, including the iconic Rimbaud and Pasolini, he has been exhibited all over the world. The Ecce Homo exhibition, featuring almost 400 pieces, which took place in 2019-2020 at the Palais des Papes in Avignon, was a huge success.
