Research topics

Cardiac function. Exercise and metabolic diseases. My research focuses on the study of endothelial and myocardial dysfunction and its modulation by chronic physical exercise in pathophysiological (axis 1) or physiological (axis 2) situations characterised by an increase in oxidative stress (firstly PAH, then heart failure and more recently cardiometabolic diseases, in line with the gradual thematic refocusing of the unit). Most of my work is carried out in the context of clinical research. I do, however, use animal experiments (in vivo and ex vivo approaches on isolated organs or cells) to develop a more detailed mechanistic approach by identifying the signalling pathways involved.
