Biography

Biography : Marilyn Nicoud is a graduate of the Ecole normale supérieure de Fontenay-Saint-Cloud and holds an agrégation in history (1990). She is a former member of the Ecole française de Rome (1995-1998) and was awarded a CNRS delegation in 1999-2000. She defended a doctoral thesis in 1998 under the supervision of Danielle Jacquart (EPHE) on health regimes in Italy and France. Lecturer at the ENS-LSH from 2000 to 2004, she was Director of Medieval Studies at the Ecole française de Rome (2004-2010). Since 2010 she has been a professor at the University of Avignon, having defended an HDR on 'Discourses and medical practices in the last centuries of the Middle Ages'. Her unpublished dissertation was on 'Medical thought, culture and practice at the court of the Viscontis and Sforzas'.
