Take part in Avignon Université's 1st Mobility Challenge, from 24 March to 6 April

Campus News 11 March 2025

Open to the entire university community (students, staff, lecturers, researchers, etc.), Avignon Université is launching the 1st mobility challenge to raise awareness of the carbon emissions caused by our daily journeys.

From 24 March to 6 April, take your mobility in the right direction !

For a fortnight, work in teams to reduce the carbon emissions from your daily journeys by testing new, less carbon-intensive transport solutions.

GHG emission factor for transport

Commuting (= travel between home and work) remains at the heart of the University's carbon footprint (48 % of greenhouse gas emissions). As stipulated by the Mobility Orientation Law, we want to refocus our mobility towards more environmentally-friendly forms of transport. Taking the step of testing a new solution is one of the levers that encourages/facilitates a change of habit (Shift Project Report, 2008).[1]). The aim of this challenge is to encourage people to change their mobility habits by offering to use a less carbon-intensive mode of transport at least once a week. Attached as a guide is a comparison of transport modes based on their GHG emission factors.

Regulations

  • Open to all members of the Avignon University community (students, staff, lecturers, etc.)
