Scientific Meetings of the GDR Mécabio Santé 2025
Biomechanics and Health: at the crossroads of disciplines
26–28 November 2025, Avignon University
The CNRS Mécabio Santé Research Group (GDR) is organising its annual scientific meetings at the University of Avignon from 26 to 28 November 2025. This major event will bring together nearly a hundred participants – researchers, teacher-researchers, clinicians, industrialists and students – to discuss the latest advances at the interface of mechanics, biology and health sciences.
Biomechanics now plays an essential role in the evolution of medical practices: from the mechanobiology of diagnosis to biomimetic technologies derived from additive manufacturing, including functional imaging, multiscale modelling and artificial intelligence. These meetings will highlight the progress made in quantitative, explanatory and predictive biomechanics, which contributes to our understanding of living organisms and human health.
Organised over three days and five half-days, the event will alternate between plenary lectures, oral presentations and posters, round tables and networking sessions. The thematic sessions will cover topics such as: Hard tissues, Cancer, Blood and cells, Vascular, Soft tissues, Mathematics for life sciences and Microfluidics.
This year, two mini-symposiums will be organised jointly with other GDRs. A symposium on «Multiscale approaches to the study of tissues and interfaces” in collaboration with the GDR Réparer l'Humain (Repairing Humans) and a symposium on «Artificial Intelligence Strategies in Engineering for Health” in collaboration with the Math Bio Santé Thematic Network.
Hosting these meetings at Avignon University is a strategic opportunity to showcase local expertise in physiology, biomechanics and artificial intelligence, raise the profile of research and stimulate interdisciplinary collaboration.
In line with its eco-friendly approach, the event will prioritise simplicity and sustainability: soft mobility, reduced printing, eco-cups and a selection of committed service providers.
Dr Yannick Knapp and Dr Claire Maufrais are responsible for local coordination, with support from LaPEC and the CNRS.
