The Legal, Political, Economic and Management Sciences Laboratory is pleased to welcome as part of the "Matins du -JPEG" 2024

Béatrice SIADOU-MARTIN,

University Professor, University of Montpellier, Montpellier Management (MOMA), Montpellier Recherche en Management (MRM) for a presentation entitled :

Are mobile applications serving responsible consumption?

Echoing the "servitization" and digitisation of the economy, servitized mobile applications are developing in a variety of fields, including health, food, insurance, etc. They are characterised by the services they provide to the user (but also to the consumer), and provide incentives to adopt behaviour that is favourable to the user, the environment or society as a whole. They are characterised by the services they provide to the user (and also to the consumer), providing incentives to adopt behaviours that are good for the user, the environment and society as a whole.

In order to function properly, mobile service applications need to collect information (e.g. geolocation data or products purchased), store it and analyse it to offer services tailored to consumers (e.g. identifying places where short-dated products are sold at reduced prices, providing cooking recipes tailored to the products in the fridge or cupboards and to people's preferences). These are all intrusions into people's private lives.

The objectives of this review are therefore threefold:

  1. Determining the dimensions of intrusiveness (article published in Décisions Marketing) ;
  2. Measuring the impact of intrusiveness on intentions to download, use or recommend service applications;
  3. Does knowing about these applications mean adopting responsible consumption? (Paper presented at the next Marketing and Sustainable Development Day).

The discussion will be led by  Romain FARELLACCIMCF in Management Sciences (-JPEG-AU), main discussant

Other discussants : Anne MAURAND-VALET (06), Jérôme JOUBERT (05), François FULCONIS (06)

The presentation will be followed by Adèle FOUCHé's doctoral dissertation on the theme: "The dark-sides of the industrial-distributor relationship".

Discussant : Béatrice SIADOU-MARTIN.

The meeting will take place on vWednesday 29 November 2024 at 9.30 a.m. in room 2E07
