On 19 March 2026, Julien-Robert Paganin, CNRS research fellow in the Cell Biology and Cancer Laboratory at the Institut Curie, will present a Midiscience on the theme :
«Des parasites et des hommes: Plasmodium myosins as new targets in the fight against malaria».»
Malaria is a parasitic disease caused by Apicomplexes of the genus Plasmodium. Parasite motility and infectivity rely on atypical molecular motors such as myosin A. Structural and functional studies of this protein and the recent discovery of specific inhibitors are opening up new therapeutic prospects.
Julien Robert-Paganin is a research fellow at the CNRS. He studies myosins using approaches combining structural biology and biophysics. He was awarded the CNRS Bronze Medal in 2025.
