Café des sciences - "Journey to the centre of the earth" with Olivier Bellier and Jérôme Gattacceca

17 October: 8.30pm - 22h30

Join us on 17 October 2024 at 8.30pm at the Françoise restaurant for a Café des Sciences on the theme :  "Journey to the centre of the earth".
With Olivier Belliergeologist by training, Professor at the University of Aix Marseille, Vice-Chairman Science et Société ;
and Jérôme GattaccecaOlivier Bellier and Jérôme Gattacceca carry out their research in the Earth and Planets team at CEREGE (Centre de Recherche et d'Enseignement en Géosciences de l'Environnement), a geosciences research unit based in Aix-en-Provence and Marseille. The deepest geological boreholes barely reach ten kilometres below the surface. Only indirect methods (geological and geophysical: seismic, rock magnetism, meteorite analysis, etc.) can reveal the remaining 6350 km...

What envelopes make up the structure of our globe? What is the Earth's interior made of (nature and physical chemistry of terrestrial materials)?

What natural phenomena are linked to its structure? Are the other bodies in the solar system made in the same way?

Do we have rocks that come from the depths of our planet? Is this structure static or dynamic, and has it always been the same?

Whether you're a specialist or a novice, the Cafés des Sciences are for everyone who's curious about science.
