A science café prepared by doctoral students from the University of Avignon.
Thursday 23 May from 8.30pm at the Restaurant "Chez Françoise".
6 Rue du Général Leclerc, 84000
"Artificial Intelligence", "AI", a name that resonates with the futuristic visions of the 1940s brought to life by Asimov and his laws. Since then, the Terminator, The Matrix and Black Mirror have fuelled imaginations around this new tool.
A tool. No more, no less?
A tool now available to everyone. Student looking for inspiration for a homework assignment? Company directors looking for a new logo to represent their values? Or why not a researcher in search of ever more effective analyses?
Every year, advances in this field have a greater impact on research.
But why? To what extent? And at what cost? This Café des Sciences is an opportunity to question our relationship with AI through the eyes of researchers and institutions who are themselves using this complex machinery. But what can we do when computer science is not part of our field of expertise? And how do we make it our own? All the while maintaining a critical scientific distance.
This café is a golden opportunity to question our relationship with tools.
