Biology of Vector-Borne Diseases (BVBD) - France summer school, from 1 to 5 June at Avignon University

We are pleased to announce the «Biology of Vector-Borne Diseases (BVBD) - France» summer school, which will take place from 1ᵉʳ to 5 June 2026 at Avignon University. This course is the sister programme of the flagship BVBD course organised each year by the Institute for Health in the Human Ecosystem (IHHE) at the University of Idaho (USA). Our French edition, organised with the support of EUR IMPLANTEUS, is designed to encourage international participation while reducing the environmental footprint of long journeys.
What is BVBD-France? BVBD-France shares the mission, core pedagogical elements and practical approach of the Idaho course: to build a sustainable knowledge network between researchers and practitioners who advance science and interventions in the field of vector-borne diseases transmitted to plants, animals and humans. Interaction between teachers from the two programmes and the sharing of instructors ensure a harmonised pedagogy, while each course retains its own specific focus, shaped by its teaching team and case studies.
Who can apply? Post-graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, practitioners and early-career professionals with fundamental knowledge of vector-borne diseases who wish to build bridges between disciplines (biology, ecology, epidemiology, modelling, policy) and work on concrete «complex challenges».
How to take part: apply before 28 February 2026 (covering letter + CV). If your application is accepted, register before 31 March 2026.
EUR Implanteus students (class of 2025-2026 and previous classes) will be exempt from the registration fee if their application is accepted.
