[Distinction] Mariam ABOULKHOUYOUL, doctoral student at -JPEG, receives the "coup de cœur" award for her performance at CNRIUT 2025

At the 2025 edition of the CNRIUT, National Congress of IUT ResearchThe Research, Technology Transfer and Innovation (RTI) Commission of the Assembly of IUT Directors (ADIUT) highlighted the paper entitled "Regulations and the circular economy: what challenges for sustainable packaging in the automotive industry?" at the IUT de Bayonne et du Pays Basque (Université de Pau et des Pays de l'Adour) on 26 and 27 March. This article was co-authored by François FULCONIS, Mariam ABOULKHOUYOUL and Patrick PUJO.

The ADIUT RTI Committee selected this article for presentation at a plenary session and awarded Mariam ABOULKHOUYOUL the "Prix coup de cœur" for her brilliant performance.

In conjunction with the Packaging Department (BUT PEC) of the Avignon IUT, a member of the Avignon University's JPEG laboratory (AU) and associated with CRET-LOG (AMU), Mariam ABOULKHOUYOUL is preparing a thesis in Management Sciences under a CIFRE contract with the RENAULT Automobile Group on the issue of reducing industrial packaging in the context of the transition to a circular economy.

The research presented here aims to answer the following question: "do current regulations promote or hinder the transition to the circular economy in the use of packaging within the automotive industry?". More specifically, it examines how, in this specific case, the regulatory framework influences the implementation of circular solutions and how it could evolve to support this transition more favourably.

François FULCONIS is a University Professor of Management Sciences in the Packaging Department of the Avignon University Institute of Technology (IUT), Deputy Director of the Avignon University (AU) JPEG laboratory and associate researcher at the Aix-Marseille University (AMU) CRET-LOG.

Mariam ABOULKHOUYOUL is a doctoral student in Management Sciences at the laboratory -JPEG d'Avignon Université (AU), under a CIFRE contract with the Renault Automobile group, and an associate member of CRET-LOG at Aix-Marseille Université (AMU).

Patrick PUJO is a University Professor of Industrial Engineering, a lecturer at Polytech Marseille and a researcher in the CRET-LOG laboratory at Aix-Marseille University (AMU) and the UAR UTOPII (CNRS).
