Innovation Passport
Avignon Université's resources at the service of business R&D!
What if the scientific and technical expertise of your teacher-researchers, PhD students and post-graduate students were involved in your product development projects?
What if the equipment in our laboratories, the IUT and our technology platforms could help you innovate or solve your technical problems?
That's what the new business support scheme is all about: Company Innovation Passport.
The programme at a glance
A system that goes further than a traditional hackathon
Most innovation marathons (hackathons and start-up weekends) are highly concentrated events (2 to 3 days maximum) that enable a wide range of players to come together around an innovative project, of varying degrees of maturity, with the aim of innovating in a disruptive way, reinventing products or putting ideas "off the shelf" to the test.
These systems use modern methods of innovation management and stimulating collective intelligence (lean start-up, design thinking, jugaad innovation, No-Code..).
This event is an opportunity to discover these agile innovation methods through the concrete progress of industrial or service projects.
There are many variants of the innovation marathon. The one we are presenting proposes to extend this type of scheme over a longer period by including work periods before and after the flagship event itself (the hackathon).
This unique formula should enable us to offer solutions with higher scientific and technical added value than most short events, which are often limited to 'intangible' results. As these events often run over two days, they have little time to address the proposed topics from the engineering point of view, and therefore from the point of view of the operational implementation of the ideas and results emanating from the hackathon.
With Passeport Innovation Entreprise, we suggest that all or part of the project team joins the company for a minimum 2-month work placement, so that they can follow up on the work they have started.
The scheme provides each project with students from Avignon University enrolled in the Master of Engineering programme (the University's engineering degree), students from the IUT, Licence 3, Master 1 & 2 and doctoral students. The aim is to take advantage of the mix of technical profiles and skills available at the University.
These teams will be technically supervised by lecturers from research laboratories or the IUT. The entire programme will be coached and led by management experts from a variety of backgrounds (competitiveness clusters, French tech, universities, etc.).
The benefits for your company and your project
Passeport Innovation Entreprise is a support programme that mobilises the expertise of AVIGNON UNIVERSITÉ to help companies become more competitive:
- Explore and capture new markets
- Boost the innovation of your products or services
- Make it easier to remove scientific and technical barriers
- Establish direct connections with research laboratories and the IUT
- Take advantage of several weeks of technical expertise from graduate students, doctoral students and teacher-researchers.
- Take advantage, through your project team, of the equipment in our laboratories and technology platforms
- Recruit one or more paid work placement students for at least two months, who will already have a good knowledge of your company and of the project to which they have already contributed.
What's in it for our University?
The aim of this scheme is to help us fulfil our mission of promoting know-how and research results by encouraging the economic development of businesses.
It is also a way of contributing to students' training and knowledge of the socio-economic world. That's why, at the end of the operation and if their contribution is validated, each student will receive a " business innovation passport "We hope that this additional mention on their CV will help them to find a job and develop their employability. We hope that this additional mention on their CV will help them to find a job and develop their employability.
Taking part in this scheme is therefore a reciprocal commitment on the part of the students, the University and the companies.
That's why, very early on in the implementation of the next edition of the scheme, we will be getting in touch with each of the companies selected to take stock of internship opportunities in terms of HR and any funding requirements.
We hope that you will give a warm welcome to this new initiative in our region and, above all, as this is a first-of-its-kind operation, that you will let us know as soon as possible what changes we can make so that this scheme becomes yours too!
