Biography

Isabelle Brianso is a teacher-researcher at the University of Avignon and is attached to the Norbert Elias Centre (UMR 8562). She was an ATER & ANR post-doc (Université Paris Saclay / Centre d'Histoire Culturelle des Sociétés Contemporaines) and then an individual research excellence grant holder. Marie Curie (IEF, FP7) at the Autonomous University of Barcelona / Jean Monnet Chair (Spain) and research fellow at the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle in Paris (UMR 208 Local heritage and governance). After studying economics at the University of Paris X-Nanterre, she specialised in cultural policies at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques d'Aix-en-Provence, then in museology at the Università degli Studi di Roma Tre (Master's research) under the supervision of Prof. Emma Nardi. She has also spent six months in Oxford (Cambridge Exams), Italy (Masters) and Cambodia (European Doctorate), and has carried out expert missions in Gabon (National Museum of Libreville), Sudan and Kosovo. She has taken part in numerous European projects (FP6, FP7) in Latin America (Argentina, Mexico, Brazil), Europe (ERASMUS + DECRA) and Morocco (H2020-Geopark). Her doctoral work (71st section CNU, European doctorate defended in French and Spanish with the congratulations of the jury) concerned the study of the process of the heritage designation of the temples of Angkor (Cambodia) by UNESCO. This research work was selected for the scientific prize (2010). Cultural Policy Research Award funded by the European Cultural Foundation and the Riksbankens Jubileumsfond.
