Inauguration of AGORAé, a place to fight student poverty, Wednesday 4 October 2023
The City of Avignon, in partnership with Avignon Université and Inter'Asso, is committed to combating student insecurity.
The opening of an AGORAé specially dedicated to students, in premises identified and renovated by the City of Avignon on rue Carreterie, comes at a time when the cost of starting a new academic year in Avignon has risen by more than 9% over one year.
Inter'asso, in collaboration with Avignon town council, the Crous and the university, have put the finishing touches to this major project. " Some students don't eat at all, or only once a day, because they can't afford it. The aim of the Agora is to enable young people to eat normally. In practical terms, students will be given a fixed price depending on how much they have to live on"." explains Paola Cappeleman, president of Inter'asso in Avignon. At the official inauguration on Wednesday 4 October, the various partners plan to sign an agreement to fund the shop for the next three years.
