This study day on 'Third Cultural Places, the Commons and the SSE' is part of a research project entitled 'THIRD CULTURAL PLACES and THE COMMONS' funded by the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme de Paris Nord under the 2023 call for projects. This conference will provide an opportunity to present and discuss the initial results of this mid-term research project in the presence of established researchers working in the field of the commons and the SSE, doctoral students carrying out their research on cultural third places and professionals from the cultural third places that make up the body of research.
The two events planned for the day (research seminar and participatory workshops) will provide food for thought and guide, or even re-route, the continuation of the research over the coming months. The research seminar will be devoted to presenting the work in progress of the researchers attending the seminar, while the two afternoon workshops will give a voice to players in cultural third places and public players on the following themes: "Cultural third places, SSE and territory: issues and challenges" and "Cultural third places, laboratories for experimenting with transitions".
Lastly, the EJ will provide an opportunity to consider how the project might be pursued, whether in the form of a larger-scale scientific project (with an international dimension) or in the form of scientific exploitation of the results (publications in particular).
