The chirality is a geometric property present in living beings, among others.
Objects are said to be chiral when their image in a mirror cannot be superimposed, like our left and right hands.

  • But what is chirality?
  • What is its role and importance in the construction of living molecules?
  • Does this also apply to objects?
  • Why do we say that life is chiral?

Here's a surprising and little-known theme to discover at this Café des Sciences.

Quote from René Descartes :

«Anyone who doesn't burst out laughing when he bends over to look at his bare feet has either no sense of humour or no sense of symmetry.»
René Descartes (1596-1650)
