Mistral Excellence Scholarships

2026/27 campaign

The MISTRAL excellence scholarship programme is intended for foreign students of very high academic level who are enrolled in a higher education establishment abroad and who wish to continue their studies at Avignon University with a view to obtaining a Master's degree.

The 2026/27 bid campaign is open from 2 to 22 March 2026. To apply, please complete the : 2026/27 Bid Form.

At the same time as applying for the Mistral scholarship, the candidate must apply for the Master's programme concerned using the procedure in force on the portal Studying in France or monmaster.gouv.fr, depending on your situation.

French level B2 minimum, C1 for certain Masters

Additional conditions

- be enrolled in a higher education establishment abroad at the time of application (priority will be given to applicants enrolled in a higher education establishment that is a partner of Avignon Université); ;

- have a very good academic record and meet the academic and linguistic criteria set by the teaching staff of the Avignon Université course concerned; ;

- have not interrupted their studies for more than one year; ;

- apply for a Master 1 or 2 degree at Avignon Université for the 2026-2027 academic year; ;

- not reside in France; ;

- be under 28 years of age on 31 December 2026 ;

- never have applied for the Mistral Excellence Scholarship (except in the case of renewal); ;

- not be in receipt of another scholarship for the course applied for.

Application for the Mistral programme does not exclude application for another scholarship in parallel with the Mistral application. In the event of obtaining a scholarship other than the Mistral scholarship, the applicant must inform Avignon Université as soon as possible and renounce the Mistral scholarship.

REGISTRATION / APPLICATION

Applications can only be made online via the dedicated platform, from Monday 2 March 2026 at 9am.

The deadline for receipt of applications is Sunday 22 March 2026 at 11.59pm.

Documents to be provided

- proof of current enrolment at a higher education establishment abroad at the time of application (or in the previous academic year for applicants who have interrupted their studies for less than a year); ;

- copies of all diplomas obtained since the end of secondary education ;

- copies of transcripts of marks obtained during higher education, accompanied by a description of the marking system used in the country of origin; ;

- proof of the applicant's level of French (minimum B2) ;

- a letter of recommendation from a lecturer at the applicant's home university; ;

- A letter from the applicant in French, explaining why he or she would like to enrol in the chosen Master's programme at Avignon University, and setting out his or her career plans; ;

- an up-to-date curriculum vitae in French ;

- the CEF identifier for students from countries covered by the Campus France procedure.

Selection process

A committee is responsible for examining the applications and selecting the winners. Successful candidates will then receive a letter of confirmation. The committee's decision is final and cannot be challenged.
