Master's degree in Humanities and Social Sciences, major: History
Type of course: Heritage and Digital Cultures
The Master's degree in Heritage and Digital Cultures aims to train future managers in the field of heritage conservation in the broadest sense of the term: archives, libraries, museums. Faced with current and future developments in these professions, the curriculum includes theoretical courses, professional internships, courses devoted to digital tools, collection, conservation and more generally to the heritage of documents or digital data.
Goals
Thanks to their training, future graduates will be able to participate in the constitution, organization, conservation, enrichment, evaluation and exploitation of historical and cultural heritage, in particular that of a local authority or a public institution.
The skills of graduates in the field of digital humanities will enable them to contribute to the collection and processing of native digital documents, to the organisation of digitisation and electronic publishing campaigns, and to the enhancement of collections and heritage holdings.
Contributing to making this heritage known, they will also be called upon to provide scientific expertise for the purposes of enhancement and cultural communication. They will be able to carry out scientific research on historical heritage, both public and private.
Internships
Master 1: compulsory short internship (minimum: 2 months), possibly long internship.
Master 2: compulsory long internship (paid, minimum: 3 months).
Internships are offered to students every year in museums, archives and libraries. Internships can be in public or private institutions. International internships are also possible, particularly in the second year of the Master's programme.
Internships lead to the writing of dissertations, in the first and second year of the Master's programme, which are presented at a defence.
