Goals
To make each student a specialist in the management of physical and sports activities, both a designer and a leader in the field of teaching and training.
At the same time, it aims to provide them with a theoretical and practical culture that will enable them to have an enlightened vision of the contemporary sports phenomenon.

The STAPS Department is co-accredited for the Professional and Research Masters in "Human Movement Science and Technology" with the Universities of Montpellier, Marseille, Toulon and Nice, with courses in Physical Preparation Engineering, Psychological Preparation and Coaching Engineering, Rehabilitation through Adapted Physical Activities, Prevention and Health Education through Physical Activity, Management of Sports Tourism Services and Human Movement Science (Research).

Required former training
For Licence 1: Baccalaureate or French or foreign diploma accepted in exemption or equivalence of the baccalaureate in application of national regulations.
Recommended educational background(s)
For Licence 1: Bac S, ES and L, with Bac S holders having a better success rate.

Admission conditions
For Licence 2, access by right for the holders of the L1 STAPS obtained at Avignon University. For the students coming from another university, access is possible after examination of the files by a commission in charge of appreciating the evoked reasons of the transfer.
For Licence 3, access by right for the holders of the L2 STAPS obtained at Avignon University. For students coming from another university, access is possible after examination of the files by a commission in charge of appreciating the evoked reasons of the transfer.
Access is possible after a favourable opinion from the commission of validation of the experience gained in L1, L2 or L3 STAPS.

Conditions of validation
The control of knowledge is either continuous or final.
In the case of continuous testing, the final grade is usually composed of averages weighting the results of files, oral exams and/or mid-term exams.

Targeted skill(s)
The STAPS degree at Avignon University is a multi-faceted course and requires scientific as well as literary skills.
Thus, it is advisable to be curious and serious. But you must also be a sportsman. In all sports professions, legitimacy and competence are based on an honourable sporting experience. Although it is not necessary to be a top-level sportsman, it is essential to have a genuine interest in sport in general, and a very regular practice of at least one activity.
