Housing assistance
The amount of assistance varies according to your income, the amount of rent and the size of the property. The allowance can be up to half the amount of your rent. The Caisse d'Allocations Familiales (CAF) will only pay you the money once your application has been submitted and processed.
You will need the following documents to complete your application:
- a photocopy of an identity document (residence permit or residence authorisation for more than 3 months for foreign students),
- the rent receipt in your name,
- a photocopy of the lease or rental agreement which must be in your name,
- a bank statement,
- a statement of income (in euros).

VISALE, AID FOR RENTAL GUARANTEES
In the event that relatives cannot provide a guarantee for the student's future accommodation, Visale is the free 100% guarantor for all adult students.
Offered by Action Logement, the Visale guarantee provides everyone, without means testing, with a free rental deposit for all types of accommodation (student residences, independent accommodation, shared accommodation, flats, studios, rooms).

Student accommodation grants
It is now possible to apply for housing benefit directly online on the organisations' platforms.
To ensure that your application is processed as quickly as possible, we recommend that you bring your tenancy agreement, identity papers and proof of school attendance.
For further information, several forms of assistance are available and most of them can be combined. You'll find support for your accommodation, transport costs and food, as well as funding for day-to-day expenses such as car insurance and school supplies.

Lokaviz is the national student accommodation portal. It lets you consult accommodation offers from the Crous or private individuals. You can search for accommodation by location, type and rent.
