Every year, the Université d'Avignon welcomes several hundred foreign students from all over the world. A number of measures have been put in place to make it easier for them to settle in and integrate.

A welcome desk is organised by the Maison de l'International at the beginning of the academic year. Foreign students can get help with administrative formalities (applying for a residence permit, allocating and finding accommodation, applying for a work permit, etc.) as well as practical information. The counter is open from early September to mid-October.

The website of theOFII (Office français de l'immigration et de l'intégration) provides information about your welcome in France. It is a general source of information for all foreigners wishing to come to France.

Free welcome programme Welcome programme: the SRI offers a welcome programme at the beginning of the semester, before the start of classes, open to all newly arrived foreign students and researchers. Exchange students can register when they apply for a study visit. Non-exchange students, doctoral students and researchers must register using an online registration form. Participation is free of charge. A wide range of activities and information sessions will be organised (French lessons, campus discovery, library presentation, study organisation, cultural evenings, welcome buffet).

From free language support courses in French as a Foreign Language are offered by our Language Service (SDL) for exchange and non-exchange students, as well as for PhD students on research visits. The courses in French academic methodology are provided by the components for all Bachelor students.

 International Sponsorship Programme

If you would like to make contact with students in Avignon before you arrive, you can take part in the sponsorship programme. Simply send an e-mail to parrainage-international@univ-avignon.fr . We will do our best to find you a French student enrolled in the same field of study, if possible. The "sponsor" will be able to answer any questions you may have before you arrive in Avignon, so as to establish a first contact and introduce you to the university and the city of Avignon. R.I.S.E. Association

The "R.I.S.E." student association, set up by students from the University of Avignon who are interested in other cultures, aims to promote the integration of foreign students and facilitate contacts between foreign and French students.

Practical information

Avignon University hosts several hundreds of foreign students every year, from all over the world. Various schemes have been implemented in order to ease their installation and integration.

A single service point organized by the International House. International students can find assistance with administrative procedures (helping with accommodation-seeking and support, residence permits applications, work permit, etc.) and other practical information. The single service point is open from early September until mid-October. Later on during the academic year, international students can address the international office .

The OFII website (French Office of Immigration and Integration) gives information about your arrival in France. It is a general source of information for all foreigners wishing to come to France.

Free welcome programme: A welcome programme for freshly arrived foreign students and researchers is proposed by the international office twice a year, in September and January or early February before classes start. Exchange students will be able to register for the welcome programme on applying for the exchange. Free movers, PhD students and researchers will have to register online. Participation is free of charge. Several activities and information meetings will be organized (French classes, visit of the campus, presentation of the University library, academic organization, cultural evenings, welcome lunch or coffee break).

Free language support courses in French as a Foreign Language are proposed by ou Languages service for exchange students, free movers, and for international PhD students. French academic methodology courses are included in the curriculum at Degree level.

International Buddy system programme
