Social security coverage

Social security for students
Are you starting or continuing your studies in higher education? In most cases, you no longer need to take any steps.
Here are the essentials about your health coverage as a student:
- Your carte vitale is your social security card. It proves your rights to health insurance. Remember to update it at least once a year;
- You must choose and declare an attending physician. From the age of 16, without a regular doctor, you will be reimbursed less;
- As a student, you benefit from an insurance for work-related accidents and illnesses (AT-MP) which covers you during your courses in workshops or laboratories
and internships (under certain conditions);
- You are a foreign student and you will start your studies in 2020: you must register on

Supplementary health insurance
To complete the reimbursements of the social security, if you do not meet the conditions of the complementary universal health coverage (CMU),
you can benefit, subject to meeting the means test, from assistance to finance a complementary health insurance: the payment assistance.
